Archaeology of the present

(In progress)

Inspired by the “spirit of Berlin” and by the archaeological remains of the city of Rome, this project reflects on eras and the traces left by the past. Archaeology is the study of human beings through the material remains and traces left by societies in order to reconstruct their history and environment.

After following her research on “history of the present” (on Latin American exiles in 60 in Europe), it's only natural that Marina is pursuing this quest for traces with an “Archaeology of the present day” in European societies.

This project not only questions the objects that might bear witness to our times and/or cultural differences, but also integrates the multi-disciplinary approaches of contemporary archaeology (with ethnology, linguistics and anthropology). We could also add the notion of habitus, a way of being, living and inhabiting the world.

Day-to-day collection

Influenced by Walter Benjamin and Nicolas Offenstadt, Marina is continuing her research and collection work on this project.
